3 Things You May Not Know About Norwex

If you have been introduced to Norwex, you most likely know the mission, their high-quality microfiber that cleans mechanically, using nothing by water to do the job. You also may know about other product lines like skin care, laundry essentials, and products created specifically to help you care for your beloved fur babies.

But there is much more in the background that helps make Norwex what it is. Let me introduce you to the No-No List, Return Policy, and Where our products are made. These supporting documents support the Norwex mission and promote transparency in our processes.

No-No List

The No-No List’s three full pages list often unknown ingredients that can be found in various products in the marketplace.  The beauty? They will never be used in Norwex products. Here are just a few you will find on this list:

  • Parabens are a group of chemicals widely used as artificial preservatives in cosmetic and body care products since the 1920s. Since cosmetics contain ingredients that can biodegrade, these chemicals are added to prevent and reduce the growth of harmful bacteria and mold, increasing the shelf life of the product. The concern with these chemicals is that scientific studies suggest that parabens can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs, affect birth outcomes, and increase the risk of cancer. They can also cause skin irritation.
  • Phthalates are a group of chemicals primarily used as plasticizers to make plastics more flexible and durable. They are commonly found in various products, including plastics, personal care items, and even some food packaging. While they are widely used, phthalates are also known to be endocrine disruptors, with potential health implications.
  • Triclosan is an antibacterial and anti-fungal agent commonly used in a variety of products like soaps, toothpaste, and cosmetics, as well as in household items like cutting boards, clothing, and toys. It’s also found in some medical devices and textiles. While it’s known for its germ-killing properties, concerns exist about its potential to disrupt the endocrine system, promote antibiotic resistance, and accumulate in the environment.

Return Policy

Where our products are made

When I first joined Norwex, I didn’t realize there was a document that listed every product and in which country it is made. I remember about a year ago getting a question about where something was made and had to say that I didn’t know but would try to find out. To my surprise, there it was on the consultant resource site. A one-page document that said it all. I am so glad this exists. For some people this is an important topic, and I was actually surprised to see how many are made in the USA.

Norwex?? …Nor…What???

That was me several years ago. My neighbor hosted a demo at her home. I was traveling, so I couldn’t make it. Phew… dodged that bullet! I had never heard of Norwex and had no interest in learning about it.

Now fast forward to the summer of 2020…
